DS4 - Digital Storytelling Festival - Aberystwyth June 2009
Creative Arts Wales ran one of the breakout workshop sessions at this year's festival with a presentation which focused on incorporating digital stories into a project's planning and evaluation processes. It also looked at the potential benefits of using digital storytelling as a way for community organisations to engage with their service users - and of giving these service users a 'voice'.
The Riverfront Arts Centre - Newport - February 2009
As part of World Community Arts Week I took part in an arts exhibition at The Riverfront Arts Centre in Newport, Gwent, where digital stories made at my workshops were shown alongside traditional art forms throughout the week long exhibition. To launch the exhibition a Showcase of talent wowed the audience with an evening of music, dance, poetry and performances from local people of all ages throughout the county. During the Showcase I had the oppourtunity to show more digital stories and talk about this very exciting medium.
TPAS Conference - Llandrindod Wells - November 2008
As Chair of Breaking Barriers Community Arts, I facilitated a digital storytelling workshop with advisor Kate Strudwick Arts at the TPAS (Tenant Particpation Advisory Service) conference in Llandrindod Wells on 14 November 2008. During the one and a half hour workshop delegates were introduced to digital storytelling and shown films which highlighted the multiplicity of areas that can benefit from this medium. They were then encouraged to participate in story circles and experience for themselves the storymaking process.
