Digital Artist and storyteller Printmaker/Painter/CommunityArtist

I was introduced to Digital Storytelling whilst studying for my Masters degree in Arts in the Community. I have worked on a variety of projects for the last four years including Breaking Barriers Community Arts as Chairperson, the Charter Housing Association, many private and government funded community organisations, and RSVP as a volunteer. I have spoken at many conferences about the benefits of digital storytelling and have been one of the guest speakers at the Digital Storytelling Festival for the last two years.

Past participants in my workshops have included schoolchildren, university students and senior citizens, people with physical and mental disabilities, and community workers. All have their own story to tell, from memories of WWII to experiences as an immigrant.

As well as being important in a community building and social history context, digital stories can also be used as a powerful campaigning tool for highlighting need and social injustice and to give people a voice.

Charities can harness the power of this medium with its emotional and visual impact to secure funding or as a lobbying tool, as well as benefiting from its information gathering, planning and campaign evaluation capabilities.
